The Vancouver Fraser Port Authority (VFPA) prepared a "Project Definition Report" for the Low Level Road Improvement project as part of the North Shore Trade Area program.  As part of the planning process, ENKON conducted an environmental assessment to identify sensitive and rare wildlife species or habitats within the low level road improvement project boundaries.  Wildlife assessments included bird surveys (point counts at pre-determined stations, stratified encounter transects and intensive nest searches); comprehensive ground transects for mammals; daytime systematic encounter surveys for herptiles and invertebrate foot transects.  Overall, habitat impacts within the proposed road improvement design were considered to be minimal.
